Road bike Tours on Lanzarote
Lanzarote has excellent conditions for road cycling: Smooth tarmac roads, low traffic density, topography up to 600 m with enough flat and steep bits for aerobic endurance and strength training, mild climate that allows year round swimming in the Atlantic.
The best time to visit is from September to May. From June to August, the trade winds keep the temperatures within limits. Only on a few days then, the wind is too strong for cycling on the road.

Tour suggestions
Each tour is planned in such a way that, possibly, the different sections of a route should not be taken twice in the same trip.
The tours 1 to 5 are listed from south to north. Distance and elevation difference can be varied by means of alternative route segments.
Tour 1: El Golfo and Femes

Tour 2: Tour around Timanfaya
Mancha Blanca, you have to decide, after having passed through the lava field, whether you will head for La Santa and Famara at sea level and then climb again up to Teguise oder whether you will remain at about 250 m altitude riding directlich back through La Vegueta and La Geria. Those who would like to include some addicional kilometres can continue travelling via El Golfo. Starting from Puerto del Carmen with the involvement of the two variants Famara and El Golfo. If you start from Puerto del Carmen and choose the two variants Famara and El Golfo, the total distance of the tour will be about the first half of the Ironman route.

Tour 3: El Jable
12 km on the cycle way along the beach promenade hasta Arrecife and then to Costa Teguise with some traffic. From there, there are about 10 km hasta Teguise on the foothills of the Famara massif, and the elevation difference is about 350 m. Afterwards, the travel will continue around the sandy zone El Jable, which also forms part of the centre of the island. Incidentally, we would like to mention that the sand of the several kilometres long beaches of Puerto del Carmen originates locally and not from the Sahara. The return route takes you through the Nature Park of the Volcanoes, La Geria and back to Puerto del Carmen.
